Minuteman National Historical Park

Federal Waste Treatment

Project Overview

The Minuteman National Historical Park's visitor center septic system was in failure and needed to be replaced and brought into code compliance. This historic building sits on archaeologically sensitive ground which made excavating for a remedial system nearly impossible and cost prohibitive. By installing a Clivus composting system with Nepon foam-flush toilets, the visitor center drastically reduced its water usage and wastewater output and was able to minimize excavation for a much reduced size soil absorption system. The composters produce a pre-treated, higher quality effluent than a traditional septic system and is healthier and more beneficial to the environment.
